NBC’s elder statesman, Tom Brokaw, has quietly joined Twitter.

The former anchor of NBC Nightly News started tweeting yesterday under the handle @TomBrokaw. He currently serves as a special correspondent for the network but has anchored many NBC News programs, such as Today and Meet the Press.

His verified account has 7,600 followers with just two tweets.

“At #Todayat60 party – like a great college reunion,” was Brokaw’s first tweet then asked “But where’s the keg??” he joked in his second tweet.

Brokaw’s replacement, Brian Williams, still hasn’t tweeted under his account @BWilliams, but maybe a friendly competition will help change Williams’ anti-tweeting stance.
