Stretching the Canvas: Ghouls, video games and Halloween

Canvas has been in the Halloween mood all this week with no less than 20 posts featuring clever costumes, altered images, and of course, memes.

The culmination of the Halloween love-fest came to a head today with a fresh batch of holiday themed stickers to hand out. They include a pumpkin, ghost, bleeding heart and skull.

In a new weekly series, the Canvas team has joined forces with Drawcast, a group of CollegeHumor artists, to draw pictures every Sunday in front of a live-stream audience on UStream. Those images are then uploaded to the Drawcast Canvas group for all to admire, and remix.

Here’s what else happened on Canvas for the week of Oct. 28.

Monday
	This baby sure knows how to dress. Who needs the World Wildlife Foundation when you can duel wield some pistols? This little jerk got off easy. You’ll never install batteries in a remote the same way again. Real witches don’t ride brooms. They ride horses. Why did the ghost cross the road? The similarities are unsettling. The quickest art lesson you’ll ever sit through. Bill O’Reilly can’t explain anything, these days. Who knew Chewbacca was musically inclined.

Tuesday
Portal is one tricky game. Futurama art makes a splash on Canvas. Canvas can turn anything into a meme, even the Grand Theft Auto V logo. There’s a weird number of green cups at the Canvas office. The chances that a child drew this are pretty low. The world’s most interesting man finds a new home on Canvas. Justin Bieber just has that effect on the ladies. Superheroes like to trick or treat too. Wernher Von Braun lifts Canvas up. What sort of base would you build to defend against a horde of zombies? Forget cats, boobs or Johann Sebastian Bach memes. A keyboard is really what gets Canvas hot and bothered. With Muammar Gaddafi now dead, Marty McFly can breathe a sigh of relief.

Wednesday
	Sony thinks it is so clever with those tiny little computers that can fit in your pocket. Canvas will teach them. Looks like the Batmobile is in the shop. Fashion that is functional (and fierce). We’re a culture, not a meme. “Your mom” jokes have just been taken to the next level. Now, can they play basketball in these? A Renaissance man. Hamsters aren’t the only animals that like cool mazes. A pumpkin capable of destroying all pumpkins with a single destructive super charged energy beam. Zelda is into movies (and the Nyan cat). One of the rarest Pokemon around. The Never Ending Story has a weird ending. If there’s ever a fire in the new Canvas office space, they’ll be safe.

Thursday
Peter Parker can’t catch a break. The animal kingdom sure likes its polo. Cheeseburgers go with every holiday, especially Halloween. At least the child is wearing a filtered carton. And who says you need fancy music equipment to make some tunes. Albert Einstein as you’ve never seen him. We’ve all heard about Occupy Wall Street. Now what about Occupy Pride Rock? GLaDOS would be so proud. That’s no ordinary snow sculpture of a cat. Those aren’t sausages. Silly English people. The answer is so simple. If all computers came with one of these, the world would be a better place. It’s one thing to spit a little while yelling. It’s another thing completely to hurl rainbows. JFK was one stylish SOB. A cat standing on its hind legs or a fancy Photoshop job? Gravity is one hell of a law.

Friday
	The Nyan cat sticker got dressed up for Halloween. Get one while its still scary. Let us all take a moment to remember Futurama’s Zoidbeg (Cthulhu can barely contain his sadness).. Halloween themed stickers on Canvas have users a bit confused. Atleast Catwoman is house broken. Some kids don’t need to wear a costume for Halloween. And then he discovered boobs. Adidas is one weird clothing manufacturer. That finger partied hard last night. The Joker can rip and ride like the best of them..
