There’s an easy way to get Hulu for free. You have to be a Sprint Unlimited customer. Here’s everything you need to know to get started.

What is Sprint Unlimited?

Do you love TV and your mobile phone? Sprint might be the service for you. Subscribers to Sprint’s Unlimited package get unlimited talk, data, and texting, as well as the ability to stream video (up to 1080p), gaming (up to 8mbps), and music (up to 1.5mbps). Sprint Unlimited is also one of the cheapest options on the market, especially once you start adding multiple lines. Each Sprint Unlimited account costs $60-$80 per month (minus all of the standard fees you’ve come to expect and loathe), and you can add up to five.

Each major cellphone provider offers different perks. T-Mobile One Plus offers access to Netflix, AT&T’s Unlimited Plus Enhanced Plan comes with an HBO subscription, and Verizon Beyond Unlimited throws in its streaming service go90. Sprint Unlimited comes with a free six-month trial of the music-streaming service Tidal and one year of Hulu with Limited Commercials.

What is Hulu with Limited Commercials?

Hulu with Limited Commercials is the service’s most basic package, but it still contains the service’s entire catalog of moviesTV shows, scary movies, Hulu documentaries, anime, and the must-see Hulu originals—just with a few more commercials to sit through.

Hulu with Limited Commercials normally costs $5.99 per month. From today’s best network shows like Black-ish and Family Guy to premium cable treats like Atlanta, Hulu is the best source for television programming streaming today. Its library dates back decades, giving equal space to Rick and Morty and ER. With Hulu, there’s always a new show to watch, and the Limited Commercials package keeps ads to a limit. How many ads you’ll experience is often up to the network, so expect more with ABC than Cartoon Network.

How does Sprint with Hulu work?

If you’re already a Sprint Unlimited customer, you can add Hulu with Limited Commercials for free (we’ll get to how shortly). But there are a few downsides you should know about.

Users who decide to access Hulu through Sprint might save some money, but they will be sacrificing flexibility. One of Hulu’s greatest strengths is its add-on content, opening the door to HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax. Hulu accounts accessed through Sprint, however, can’t use these add-on services, since your membership technically belongs to Sprint.

Sprint accounts also can’t be upgraded to Hulu with No Commercials or Hulu with Live TV

How to set-up your Sprint Hulu account

So you’ve thought it over and decided you want to activate your Sprint Hulu account? You’ve made a wise choice. Here’s what you need to know.

Step 1: Turn off your phone’s Wi-Fi

Sprint needs to be able to connect to your phone through the network for this process to work, so before you get started, turn off your device’s Wi-Fi connection.

Step 2: Log in to your Sprint account

Once you’ve logged into your Sprint account, select My Sprint from the top menu. On mobile, you’ll need to also press “More.”

Step 3: Select Change Services from the drop-down menu

On the Change Services menu, select the line you want to add Hulu too. You can only add only one line per account, so for family plans, you’ll need to decide who gets to watch Hulu. We suggest a game of Rock/Paper/Scissors, but this a matter of personal taste.

Step 4: Scroll to Services to Add

Under “Services to Add” select Hulu VOD ($5.99 value), agree to the terms and conditions, then press continue.

Step 5: Follow the link Sprint texts you

Upon completing the process, Sprint will send you a text message that reads: “You’re so close to streaming the TV you love. Finish your Hulu registration at https://www.hulu.com/sprint.” Follow the link to complete your registration. Keep your phone disconnected from the Wi-Fi during this process, as the Hulu site needs to register that you’re visiting it from a Sprint phone. Once registration is complete, you’ll be ready to watch.

What if you’re already a Hulu subscriber?

Pre-existing Hulu customers are still eligible for free service through Sprint, but your process depends on how you signed up. Existing Hulu subscribers can follow the same process above to switch billing. When you receive the text message to finalize your registration, go to the linked site as normal. When you arrive, enter the email address of your existing account. Hulu will tell you to login to your account instead of making a new one. Once you’ve logged in, Hulu will prompt you to activate the Hulu with Sprint service. Billing will switch over to Sprint, and you’ll have an extra $5.99 in your pocket every month.

The exception is people who signed up for the service via iTunes. Because Hulu doesn’t handle this billing, it can’t switch it over for you. These users will need to first cancel their subscription through iTunes, then follow the process above. You can use your old logins to keep your old account, with payment moving to Sprint.

How to cancel a Hulu subscription on iOS

You’ll need your iOS device or a computer with iTunes to cancel a subscription through Apple. Here’s how it works.

Step 1: Go to Settings and select the first option which lists your name.

You’ll see a subheading that says “Apple ID, iCloud, iTunes & App…” Click on this option.

Step 2: Tap Apple ID at the top of the screen

This will bring up the Apple ID menu, select View Apple ID to move on.

Step 3: Scroll down and tap“Subscriptions.

Under this menu, you’ll find all the services you have a paid subscription for. Select Hulu, then scroll down through your options until you see Cancel Subscription. Your membership will end when the current bill cycle is over. (Wait until your current billing cycle ends to activate your Hulu account through Sprint since you already paid for it.)

How to cancel a Hulu subscription on iTunes

Step 1: Open iTunes and make sure you’re signed in

If you haven’t used iTunes recently make sure you’re still logged in. Select the Account option from the menu. If your Apple ID is already there select the View My Account option.

Step 2: On the Account page select the Settings option

Step 3: Under Settings, you’ll see a list of options. Select Manage to the right of the Subscriptions listing.

Under the Subscriptions menu, you’ll see a little Edit button next to each entry. If your Hulu account isn’t listed here, it means you signed up through another service. Click Edit and select the Cancel Subscription option at the end of the list.
