The “Jersey Shore” starlet who streamlined the poof hairstyle is now the top reality TV show star on Twitter.
Monday night Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, 23, surpassed three million followers on Twitter. According to Twitaholic’s list of Top 100 Twitterholics based on followers, Snooki is number 64, edging out the likes of Lance Armstrong, Drake, and comedian Russell Brand.
Sitting on the top of the list are Lady Gaga (13.4 million followers), Justin Bieber (12.5 million), and President Barack Obama (10 million).
Her followers include an army of high school girls, a pastor, young mothers, and journalists like Amy Chozick of the Wall Street Journal.
Snooki is a star on MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” a reality show where eight self-proclaimed guidos and guidettes drink heavily, party hard, and try their best to hold down a part-time job. The show, which is in its fourth season, has been a monster hit for MTV. After premiering with a little more than one million viewers back in Dec. 2009, this season (which features the cast fist-pumping in Florence, Italy) has consistently averaged more than five million viewers every week, according to stats from TV by the Numbers.
Not to mention, in 2010 Barbara Walters selected the cast to be one of her “10 Most Fascinating People.”
Snooki was born in Chile before she was adopted and raised in Marlboro, NY, a hamlet near Poughkeepsie.
