As Shane Dawson tries to get away from the story he once told about humping and ejaculating on his cat, the memes laughing at Dawson and his pets continue to build online.
A Twitter user posted audio last Sunday from a 2015 Dawson podcast where the popular YouTuber (21.2 million subscribers) joked about bestiality. As Dawson said in the clip, “One time I laid my cat down on her back and I moved her little chicken legs spread or whatever. And I was like if I just hump on her tummy, that’s not weird. And then I humped and I humped and I humped and I kept going and I kept going and I came all over the cat. I was like my first sexual experience, and I was 19.”
Dawson defended himself on Sunday night and said, “I didn’t fuck my cat. I didn’t cum on my cat. I didn’t put my dick anywhere near my cat. I’ve never done anything weird with my cats.” Still, many people online were angry with the Daily Dot’s 2018 YouTuber of the Year (and had no problem remembering old racist videos from him as well), and Twitter has had fun at Dawson’s expense.
And popular influencers like Keemstar continue to post newly discovered old videos that touch on pedophilia, racism, and bestiality.

Despite getting a gun pulled on him during a live stream, podcast host Adam22 also had made a Dawson/cat joke in the aftermath.

Dawson, though, has moved forward in his life. On Tuesday night, he announced that he was engaged to Ryland Adams, his longtime boyfriend. Though Dawson lost about 4,400 YouTube subscribers in a three-hour span after that podcast audio surfaced on Sunday, his channel has since stabilized.
According to YouTube analytics site Social Blade, Dawson gained about 6,500 new subscribers on Tuesday, less than half of what he normally gets on a daily basis but much improved from losing a total about 1,400 subscribers on Monday. As of this writing, he had already gained more than 5,000 new subscribers on Wednesday.
Even though people are making fun of Dawson and his old jokes, his YouTube career, after a minor speed bump, continues to move forward despite the blowback.
