Sometimes a postmodern GIF smacks you in the face and says, “What are you doing with your life?”

This may or may not be one of those times.

I’ve been a celebrity blogger for more than five years now, and at times people have wondered what kind of chunk this has taken from my soul. In response I usually say things like, “Supporting Ricky Martin’s coming out can only make me a better person.” Ethical celebrity bloggers (yes, they exist) don’t live to break up marriages or destroy lives; they act as an adjunct to the fandom and actually develop support for the celebrity in question and their causes; see Viggo Mortensen’s Perceval Press for an example.

Still, it’s not curing cancer. And sooner or later, some clever fellow is going to smack you in the face with the fact that you went to university to end up blogging about how Jessica Simpson looks in her pregnancy muu-muus. And, today, this is that clever fellow’s attack. From the Robert-Loves-Kristen Tumblr, this has had 102 notes. And countless self-hating, emo sighs.
