Here at the Daily Dot, we swap GIF images with each other every morning. Now we’re looping you in. In the Morning GIF, we feature a popular—or just plain cool—GIF we found on Reddit, Canvas, or elsewhere on the Internet.

“Remember Sam Taylor-Wood’s dying fruit? Things rot. … I used flowers because they die. My mood was darkly romantic at the time.”

—Alexander McQueen in Harper’s Bazaar

The late Alexander McQueen was a troubled genius who genuinely believed that fashion could be art and made fashion that was art; even the jaded had to agree. The un-jaded rejoiced when some of his work joined the collection of the Metropolitan Museum.

No one recorded what they said in Paris in 2007 when the madly exquisite creation named Sarabande emerged on the catwalk, but the 37,686 notes recorded since it was uploaded to the Blind Painted Eyes Tumblr are eloquent applause enough. Designed to fall apart during wearing, it epitomized fashion at the same time as it demonstrated its ephemeral futility. Fittingly, it, too, is in the Met’s collection.
