Lil Xan and Noah Cyrus’s relationship started on Instagram, and, apparently, it ended there too.

The two musicians, who recently co-wrote the song “Live or Die,” started documenting their relationship on Instagram earlier this summer, and Lil Xan (real name Diego Leanos) became a meme for this unique display of affection at the VMAs last month. But over the weekend, Xan took to Instagram Stories to unload, stating, “I feel like I’m probably being cheated on.”

Cyrus posted her own Instagram story, saying she was “concerned and confused,” and that she suspected Xan might be cheating on her because she saw a photo of him with a hickey. She also set the record straight for those who think their relationship was “set up by Columbia Records.” And she sent a message to other women: “if i can keep my head up through this then so can all of you strong, amazing, beautiful girls out there.”

A digitally altered photo of musician Charlie Puth’s head on a porn star’s might have been the igniting factor. Cyrus shared a screengrab of the text and wrote: “im heartbroken and confused. this is the meme i sent diego that made him think im cheating on him.” (She also apologized to Puth in the post.)

But Xan said that wasn’t it. Instead, he said in an Instagram story: “I broke up with her ’cause she was all over some other dude.” He is apparently referencing a photo Cyrus posted with producer and DJ Ookay.

Xan, who has deleted all photos of Cyrus from his Instagram, recently posted a video that appeared to show him urinating on a platinum plaque for single “Betrayed.”

Cyrus just announced the release date of her new EP, Good Cry. In a tearful video from Monday, she said she would “try to explain” the apparent breakup “in the next couple days.”
