Lady Gaga posted a series of nude photos this week on her Instagram—and the internet noticed. But because this is Gaga, there is certainly more than just random photo-sharing. What’s her end game?
Well, in October, she’ll feature in A Star Is Born, which co-stars Bradly Cooper. In December, she begins her Enigma residency in Las Vegas. She’s two years removed from the back-to-basics, Dusty Springfield rock of her Joanne album cycle. In other words, the 32-year-old singer is due for a return to the theatrical dramatics of her signature pop, and the photos, a collaboration with Kanye West fave Eli Russell Linnetz, seem like the start of a new music cycle.

Or maybe they’re just artful nudes? By Wednesday, she was posting normal photos of exclusive places and high-end fashion choices from her press tour in Paris.
