Celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom announced Thursday evening that she will represent Kathy Griffin, and help Griffin both explain the motive behind her anti-Trump project and respond to bullying from the Trump family.
Bloom, who previously represented Jill Harth—the first woman to publicly accuse Trump of sexual misconduct—tweeted the news Thursday night.

“Earlier this week, Ms. Griffin released a controversial photograph of herself posing with a faux-bloody mask of Donald Trump’s face,” she wrote. “Ms. Griffin and Ms. Bloom will explain the true motivation behind the image, and respond to the bullying from the Trump family she has endured.”
In Friday’s press conference, Griffin said that there was a double standard with respect to the fallout she’s been subjected to.
After Griffin initially released an image of herself holding a bloody, fake severed head of President Donald Trump on Tuesday, the president and other members of his family vocalized their disdain and anger on Twitter.
“Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself,” Trump wrote. “My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!”

First lady Melania Trump also released a statement that condemned the photo.
“As a mother, a wife and a human being, that photo is very disturbing,” she wrote. “When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it.”
The Trump family were not the only individuals to vocally condemn the photos, however.
Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), previously a supporter of Griffin, said in a statement that Griffin will not participate in a July event in Minnesota with him.
“I believe what Kathy Griffin did was inappropriate and not something that should be anywhere in our national discourse,” he said. “I consider her a friend and I’m glad she realized she crossed the line and apologized. After hearing from many Minnesotans who were rightfully offended, I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be best for her not to participate in the event we had previously scheduled.”
Anderson Cooper and Jake Tapper from CNN also publicly condemned Griffin. CNN fired Griffin following the Trump stunt.
