There is no shortage of content worth our attention. In this era of Peak TV, figuring out what show to watch next can be anxiety-inducing.

Bloodline? With Coach Taylor, right? Is that good? Wait, it just got cancelled?! Narcos season 2? Slow down man, I’m only on season 1.

In the interest of time, the blog Efficiency Is Everything concocted a diabolical scheme to shorten your Netflix commitments. The post appeared last month but made waves Tuesday morning on Reddit. The author’s methods are shockingly simple: Just speed up the settings.

The key is to set your playback speed to at least 1.1x or higher. That saves you six minutes for every hour of content. From there, you can go as high as you want until the playback is too jumbled to tolerate. Actualizing this philosophy is easy on platforms like YouTube, but speeding up your Netflix is a little more involved.

Writes Michael, the blog’s author:

1.) Chrome: Download a plugin that can control the speed. I used Video Speed Controller.
2.) Open up chrome://plugins/
3.) Disable Adobe Flash Player (This will enable HTML5 Video)
4.) Start Netflix, Pick a show and hit play.
5.) Tap D and save time now.

For more clear diagrams and other posts about how to not waste your life in front of a keyboard, head on over to Michael’s blog and dig in. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to catch up on Orange Is the New Black.
