Green Day brings a couple of people from the crowd onstage at nearly every show. It’s endearing but old hat at this point. But every once in a while you see one of those rare encounters where a fan totally embraces the spotlight and steals the show.

Such was the case Sunday night at Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, when Thomas Bulvan was pulled up for “When I Come Around.” Apparently, he was holding a sign that said, “I can play every song on Dookie”—so Billie Joe Armstrong gave him a chance to prove it.
