On Facebook this year, we shared a mix articles ranging from the heartbreaking to the hilarious.

The most shared article was “Satellite Photos of Japan, Before and After the Quake and Tsunami” from the New York Times in March, according to Facebook’s press release Most Shared Articles on Facebook in 2011.

Coming in at number two was a lighter article, “What teachers really want to tell parents,” and the number three most shared article was “No, your zodiac sign hasn’t changed.” Both came from CNN.

The teachers article had 585,000 likes and the zodiac sign piece had 230,000 likes. It was unclear how many likes the New York Times article had to make it the most shared article.

Articles ranging from not having your daughter dress like a tramp (really!) to two stories involving dogs rounded out the top ten.
