With this weekend’s Baywatch remake sitting at a 21 percent“fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Paramount Pictures probably thought it had secured the most reviled ‘80s remake of the week.

Then ABC said, “Hold my beer.”

The channel aired its Dirty Dancing remake on Wednesday night to merciless reviews. Most viewers seemed to agree that the TV movie enlisted subpar dancers, veered wildly from the original plot, crammed an absurd amount of musical numbers into the production, butchered a timeless soundtrack, and lacked any chemistry between its two co-stars, Abigail Breslin and Colt Prattes. Fans felt cheated and clamored for the original 1987 dance drama featuring Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, and that iconic lift scene.

But hey, that didn’t stop Twitter from having a ball.

The internet showed up in full force to share some of the most vicious and pop culturally poignant memes of the week. Twitter users incorporated Casper the Friendly Ghost references, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off GIFs, and of course, some spot-on President Donald Trump impressions. These jabs don’t completely heal the wounds ABC inflicted upon viewers, but they do ease the pain.

Luckily for fans, the original Dirty Dancing still airs on TV approximately every 15 minutes.
