When Dillon Hill learned that his best friend Chris Betancourt had been diagnosed with cancer for the second time, he decided to make sure Betancourt experienced as much joy as he could with what precious time he has left.

Hill decided to hold off on college and came up with a bucket list with his friend: 48 activities that include eating the world’s hottest pepper, lifting weights with the Rock, and finding love. The two will be documenting their journey on YouTube, and Hill kicked things off with an introductory video on Wednesday.

“Last month, my best friend called me and told me he was dying,” Hill said in the inaugural video. “Chris called and told me that his doctors said there are no more options. The cancer has mutated and this time I don’t think he can overcome it. He said he’s afraid of not being able to experience all the things he wants to in life.”

“At the very least, we can come together and allow Chris to experience life while he still can,” Hill continued. “This is the beginning of our life. This is my best friend.”

So far, the project has been received favorably by viewers on sites like Reddit. They are reaching out and connecting with users around the country, encouraging people to email them so they can meet up with supporters during the road trip.

The duo is also raising money for their road trip on Patreon. So far, the two have eight patrons pledging a total of $111 monthly.
