The wait for Dear White People, is almost over.

When Netflix first announced the show last year, Justin Simien—who will direct the series and write the first episode—had implied that it would be an extension of conversations he had with college students around the country.

“With Dear White People, I really wanted to go much further than the movie went,” Simien said at a Netflix event in New York Wednesday. “And I wanted to not only be ambitious about the kinds of stories we were telling but the way we were telling them.”

The film explored identity, politics, and privilege and from a glimpse at the teaser the show will look to do the same. The first big topic up for discussion? The do’s and don’t’s of Halloween costumes.

All 10 episodes of Dear White People premieres on Netflix April 28.
