Rapper Freddy E was found dead Saturday after writing a series of tweets expressing suicidal thoughts and apologizing to his family.

E, real name Frederick Eugene Buhl, was a prominent YouTuber with more than 68,000 subscribers for his JERKTV channel, which featured comedy skits and original music.

Buhl, 22, partied with friends for his birthday Friday and Instagrammed an image of painkillers he suggested he was talking for a hangover midday Saturday.

Shortly afterwards, Buhl, who has more than 100,000 followers, posted a series of tweets about heartbreak and threatened to shoot himself (warning: graphic material ahead).

Buhl’s father paid tribute to his son on Facebook Saturday, writing:

Today, our son, Frederick Eugene Buhl (@freddy_E), age 22 years old, took his own life with a rifle shot to the head. Our family is saddened beyond words; our loss is great; this tragedy is enormous and unforseen. Not only our family, but the world has lost a talented, sensitive, brilliant young man who lit up our existence with his. We love him a great deal, and he will be sorely missed. We pray that God will now watch over him, and we ask all of you to include Frederick and our entire family in your thoughts and prayers.

Buhl Sr. added that the family planned to attend a church service Sunday. He said a memorial for Buhl would be held at a later date.
