Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ 31-20 comeback win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, the socials went into overdrive when shown a video of Niners defensive end Nick Bosa crying.
Now, many on Twitter are taking Bosa behind the woodshed, by taking his video and converting it into an opportunity to begin Black History Month on his conservative-leaning tears.

In a vacuum, the emotion is understandable and duly valid. Super Bowl berths aren’t at all guaranteed, and players dream of playing in Super Bowls since as far as they can remember. Bosa, an Ohio State product, comes from a lineage of excellent football talent—which includes his older brother, San Diego Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa.
However, the younger Bosa has shown leanings toward President Donald Trump, since the latter’s unprecedented rise, which has earned the NFL’s defensive rookie of the year scorn and side-eyes. The Atlantic staff writer and for ESPN pundit Jamele Hill has long (and openly) wondered why Bosa hadn’t been taken to task for his previous comments.
Bosa was similarly attacked this weekend for following an Instagram account that made jokes about the death of Kobe Bryant.

Of course, adding to the spice, he plays a sport played mainly by Black and brown men—one of them being Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
In now deleted tweets, Nick Bosa himself tweeted out his own Trump praise.

The loss culminated in an outpouring of Bosa memes on Twitter Sunday and Monday—many of them featuring Mahomes and Dr. Martin Luther King.

Bosa and the 49ers should be just fine headed into next season. But maybe he’ll reconsider his social media activity after his detractors had such a field day on Super Bowl Sunday.
