They say imitation is the best form of flattery and in the case of parody Twitter account @myspaceT0m, they’re right.

After six months of lying dormant, the account parodying MySpace co-founder Tom Anderson — but definitely not written in Anderson’s straight-laced white-guy voice — came to life Sunday night in a flurry of tweets that made it a top trending topic.

And true to parody account form, not only does it match Anderson’s real Twitter profile (except for the crucial letter O in Tom), it uses the same iconic photo he’s used since creating Myspace.

Im so tired of white bitches trying me lately,” tweeted the account. “Yall talk shit about myspace but we did’nt criticize yalls asses for wearing the same weave 3 months straight.”

In the last 24 hours, “MySpace Tom” was mentioned more than 4,000 times, according to statistics from Topsy, a social media search engine.

Anderson even joined in on the conversation and gave the parody account his blessing.

“No worries here, but people keep asking me … when a white man says ‘nigga’ is it racist? see: john mayer,” Anderson tweeted.

The Daily Dot has reached out to both to Anderson and the person who runs the parody account for interviews.

Anderson had been in the news recently for his outspoken comments on Google+ regarding the new social media platform and what it means to Twitter and Facebook.

While Anderson has been fairly reserved in his comments on Facebook, his parody account has been far more blunt.

“Please excuse my while I make a Facebook account just to deactivate that fuckery,” the account tweeted.

Update: After collecting about 10,000 followers in less than a day for a total of 27,000 followers, and tweeting more than two dozen messages, the @myspacet0m parody account was suspended at about 12:30 p.m. ET. While most of the tweets seemed benign some were a bit racially charged. The Daily Dot has reached out again to Anderson for a comment.
