Here at the Daily Dot, we swap GIF images with each other every morning. Now we’re looping you in. In the Morning GIF, we feature a popular—or just plain cool—GIF we found on Reddit, Canvas, or elsewhere on the Internet.

What does consumerism personified actually look like? This chittering monstrosity from Haydiroket answers the question none of us had thought to ask, and now that you’ve seen it, good luck getting to sleep again any time soon.

It was Nietzsche who said, and Harlan Ellison who clarified (in his classic short story “The Whimper of Whipped Dogs“), that when we cease to worship the old gods, whatever we do worship becomes the new god.

Confronted with this cyclopean monstrosity, all glammed-up appetite, brand names, and grasping, manicured claws, what can we say but “We’re sorry?”
