A Malaysian woman has taken to YouTube to out her allegedly abusive husband, who she says hit her and caused her humiliation and physical and mental anguish.
On Monday, Amanda Fong Kim Yen, 19 years old and claiming to be two months pregnant, posted a video to YouTube that details 11 minutes of abuse endured at the hands of her husband, Calven Chik Foo Keong. The video, taken from a closed circuit security camera on August 23 in Amanda & Co., the couple’s Ipoh-area shop, documents what Fong claims is just a snippet of “this miserable life.”
“I would like to share my experience with all of you out there,” Fong wrote in the video’s description.
“I’ve been crying hysterically, having abdominal pains & traumatized by this experience. As you can see in this video, he wouldn’t let me out from the shop even [when] I went to press the door access.”
Shortly after the incident, Fong posted a photo album to Facebook that details the bruising and scarring she endured.
Fong also posted a CCTV video from two days after her incident with Chik, one that she says details her mother’s trip to the shop to pick up her belongings—one that also ended with Chik using physical force against a woman.
“She failed to do so due to his actions which caused my mom to suffer bruises & scratches on her both arms,” Yen wrote. “If you have read his part about my mom attacking him, now is the time for you guys to watch this CCTV footage.”
Chik has done his part to updates friends and followers on his Facebook page, writing on Aug. 25 that his marriage “has been on a rock boat now due to constant interference” from his wife’s mother and that he believes he is innocent of any potential charges filed by the woman.
“I have already went for a medical check up on my injuries,” he wrote. “I’m badly wounded as well as I have lodged a police report to protect my interest in the matter.”
Fong updated her Facebook status on Tuesday evening, saying that she’s “slowly recovering from the injuries and wounds that he had caused” and that she hopes “things are coming into the right place.”
Police have yet to make any arrests, but Fong’s pleas have not gone unheard. Her original video has received more than 130,000 YouTube views after just one day online.
