“By the power of Grayskull,” they’ve finally done it!

Kevin Smith announced that he, streaming giant Netflix, and Mattel TV are developing a new anime series titled Masters of the Universe: Revelation at the 2019 Power-Con on Sunday. The Mallrats and Clerks director and well-known comic fan will serve as executive producer and showrunner. A release date was not provided.

The new series will be a direct sequel to Mattel/Filmation’s original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and will focus on some of the unresolved plotlines of the classic ’80s show. In fact, the show will pick up with the character Teela, protector of Prince Adam, in search for his alter-ego.

“I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull but also their entire Universe,” Smith stated. “In ‘Revelation,’ we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!”
