John Mulaney is, without a doubt, one of the most beloved comedians on earth. There’s something about his intelligent yet goofy style that makes him eminently likable. You wouldn’t necessarily think it, but as it turns out, Mulaney is also the perfect person to pull quotes from when you’re trying to describe early 2000s pop punk bands.
This amazing phenomenon was discovered by Twitter user @ayrbee (aka: Yikes on Bikes). Although she has less than 1,000 followers, many of whom she no doubt picked up since yesterday, her initial tweet has now been retweeted over 13,000 times and liked over 31,000. If you remember pop punk music from 2000-2009, her list is sure to blow your mind. To be fair, a few of these bands might be more emo than pop punk but, let’s not kid ourselves, it’s a fine line.

Of course, with a premise this good, it wasn’t long before other people hopped on board.

One person decided that instead of a band, she could use a John Mulaney quote to express why she listened to this kind of music in the first place.

The thread made people so happy that they had a hard time expressing just how much they enjoyed it. Well, except for one person, who seemed to find the perfect way to say thanks.
