Credit where it’s due, the last place I expected the dinosaur apocalypse to happen wasn’t exactly the middle of Iowa. But on Saturday, dozens of performers in inflatable dinosaur suits (you know the one) raced onto the field at Iowa State University’s halftime show to dance to a marching band rendition of the Jurassic Park theme by John Williams, and it was epic.

The T. Rexes didn’t have the best coordination or dance moves, but they shimmied their little stubby arms off. Needless to say, some folks were confused or just plain excited by the display.
They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should

Here’s a wider view of the show if you want to see how big they went with the production.
According to the Ames (Iowa) Police Department Twitter account, the marching band performance also included other tributes to John Williams scores like Jaws, Star Wars, and E.T. My favorite bit is when the dinosaurs shimmy off the field to some upbeat music, their tails and arms wriggling in the Iowa wind. It’s far more entertaining than the most recent Jurassic Park movie.

John Hammond would be proud, genetic mishaps aside, and whatever Iowa is feeding its students should stay the course, as Iowa State crushed West Virginia in an upset.
The dinosaur suit has become synonymous with internet memes, such as when a buff athlete donned one to tackle American Ninja Warrior, or when President Trump totally snubbed some poor kid who wore one during the White House Halloween event last year.
