Attention fashionistas, bloggers, freelancers, models, and history buffs: Gucci released a new Instagram account @guccibeauty on Monday. It’s promoting the designer’s beauty line—and sharing art history lessons.
The account incorporates fashion, art history, and culture by posting portraits of women from various eras, according to the Cut. As of the time of writing, the account already has more than 12,000 followers, which speaks volume in Gucci’s influence in the fashion world.
The artworks vary from a painting of Queen Elizabeth I to a portrait by 19th century Japanese artist Yōshū Chikanobu. Each post has a short description of the art, so you can easily get an art lesson on the go.

Per the Gucci website: “Beauty represents an ideal of each place and era, a style that the artist felt was worth preserving. Sometimes it meant high hairlines and high collars, like Elizabethan England, but it can also be native woman’s simple blouse from a 1876 portrait by painter Felipe Santiago Gutierrez, one of the first international Mexican artists.”

The account was created by Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s creative director. In the future, the Instagram page will also feature Gucci beauty products, fashion shows, and announcements.
