TikTok star Dixie D’Amelio is getting widely chastised online after she attempted to troll YouTuber Trisha Paytas.
After Paytas joined the chorus of people online calling out D’Amelio and her sister Charli for being “rude” to their personal chef, the influencers have been embroiled in a public feud. Dixie D’Amelio posted a TikTok video of herself happily dancing to Payta’s rapping the N-word in NWA’s “F*ck The Police.” D’Amelio has since apologized for the video after receiving backlash.
According to Insider, the 19-year-old captioned the video: “I couldn’t find the sound for this dance so I chose a random one. Hope that’s okay!! Anyways let’s get back to the RENEGADE!!”
In the comments, D’Amelio said she didn’t want to “promote a racist sound” and that she has “made [her] point.”
Paytas, who has her own problematic past, responded to the video on Twitter. “@dixiedamelio I said this 10 years ago and have since apologized numerous times,” she wrote. “u danced and smiled to it YESTERDAY! where’s ur apology ?? Not cool in 2020 girl.”
D’Amelio’s use of the sound didn’t sit right with many people.
“Since y’all like to be dense? using & dancing to anti blackness as revenge for your white beef isn’t the serve u think it is.. especially when u hang with ppl that have also said racist shit in the past,” user @j4ila tweeted.
Many were upset that D’Amelio appears happy in the video, with some questioning if she thinks “racism is funny.”
D’Amelio issued an apology on Twitter after taking down the video.
“I posted a tiktok with the intention of making a point that didn’t need to be made. i took it down and i sincerely apologize for posting it in the first place and am so thankful for everyone. i’m wishing you all a great weekend, and thank you again for the love and support,” she tweeted.
