Domino’s wants you to eat its pizza, and it will do anything to make that happen. Apologize for how it used to taste? Oh yeah. Make an app that allows you to order pizza by simply opening the app and waiting 10 seconds? It’s got you covered

While cute, these moves aren’t actual innovations in the way we consume pizza, but the chain’s newest idea is. GPS-activated freshness, ensuring your pickup pizza is hot when you pick it up.

Here’s how it works. Using Domino’s pizza tracker app, the store will track your location via GPS. When you get close to the store for your pickup order, the workers will toss your pizza in the oven so it’s fresh and bubbly when you arrive. No more picking up a pizza that’s been chilling on the counter for 10 minutes. Just use this app for a steaming pie.

According to a statement given to CNBC, 50-60 percent of Domino’s business is pickup and carry-out, meaning there’s the potential to make a lot of customers happy with this new development.

We may have mocked the idea of an app that lets you order a pizza without pressing a button, but we fully support any advancements in pizza freshness technology. A launch date for this “in the oven when you’re close” feature hasn’t been announced, but you should expect to see it in the near future.
