He's not a senator. He's a fireman!

Ted Cruz isn’t trying to terrify you. He just thinks the world’s on fire. Don’t be a baby about it.

During a campaign stop in New Hampshire this weekend, the Texas Republican senator told a 3-year-old girl that her world was “on fire” but that her mommy would help him put it out.

The toddler sounded pretty scared, and the media ran with it. As luck would have it, Cruz appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers Monday to assure us that, actually, the shaky-voiced pre-kindergarten student was “so happy” to hear that Fireman Ted would put out the fire.

“I poll very well in the 3-6 demographic,” Cruz said.

Judging by the latest polls of adults, where Cruz is among the lowest finishers against other potential 2016 candidates, his numbers go down as age goes up.

That little kid has got to stop playing with toys already and start worrying about ISIS.
