Texas Governor Rick Perry should be thanking Herman Cain. That’s because Perry’s debate debacle from last week, when the Republican presidential candidate couldn’t remember which agencies he would cut if he were elected, may about to be overshadowed by another viral video from the campaign trail.

A video posted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel showed Cain struggling with a question from the newspaper’s editorial board. When asked about how he thought President Barack Obama handled the uprising in Libya earlier this year, Cain paused and then stumbled over who the United States supported.

“Ok, Libya,” he said, before pausing. “President Obama supported the uprising, correct?”

Cain went on to say he wanted to make sure he understood the question before answering: “I’ve got all this stuff twirling around my head.”

He eventually said it was not a simple yes or no question, but that he would have done a better job of assessing the situation.

Recent gaffes and scandals by Cain have just served to raise the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO’s profile in online communities. But this video seems to be drawing a far more negative reaction.

Within a few hours of posting the video, it had gained more than 6,000 views. In all, the newspaper posted 12 videos from the interview with Cain, but none had gained anything like the attention on the one on Libya.

Some of the comments left on the YouTube video were scathing.

“As President, you are not supposed to know everything; however, you are supposed to know what the ***k is actually going on,” wrote odsca.
