The Baltimore Police Department is facing another bout of criticism over a message inside one of its vans, which states: “Enjoy your ride, cuz we sure will!”

The authenticity of the photo was confirmed by ABC27. The police department has since launched an investigation into the sign.

“The nature and the posting of wording in one of our transport vehicles is both concerning and unacceptable,” the department said in a statement. “We have recently become aware of the wording and have begun an internal investigation to determine all the circumstances surrounding its placement and to identify the person or persons responsible for its posting. This is an incident that is being taken very seriously.”

Although the Baltimore Police Department did not explicitly state it, one of the main reasons why it is taking the sign seriously is because of the death of Freddie Gray.

Gray, 25, died on April 19, a week after he was arrested and transported in a Baltimore police van. A Baltimore Sun report released in June claims that Gray was killed by a “high-energy injury” following a sudden stop by the van.

Gray’s death resulted in massive protests around Baltimore. Six Baltimore police officers have since been indicted.
