Biggs Darklighter may not have had a lot of screen time, but he’s still a familiar character to Star Wars fans. Only appearing in A New Hope briefly, it’s hard to forget the friend of Luke Skywalker who met an unfortunate end during the attack on the Death Star. Originally though there was going to be more to Biggs’ story, which is explored in the new documentary, appropriately called Blast it Biggs! Where are you?!

The short film is the latest release in Jamie Benning’s Filmumentaries series. Benning interviewed the actor who played Biggs, Garrick Hagon, in January for the film. In it Hagon discusses how he got the role, what the scenes he was in were like, and how he feels about the scenes that were ultimately cut.

Hearing Hagon talk about the cut scenes is especially powerful. When he discusses seeing A New Hope for the first time he says it was “absolutely mindblowing.”

“At that time it was admiration and a thrill mixed with disappointment because I realized then what a chunk had gone,” he says.

Benning’s short documentary offers an interesting look at a character that could have been so much more. It’s a must-watch for Star Wars fans and movie buffs alike.
