The CW’s Riverdale is a live-action adaptation of Archie comics, the long-running franchise of comics about teens in a small American town. Dropping the romcom feel of the main Archie series, Riverdale has the edgy, sexy tone you’d expect from a teen CW show.

Falling somewhere between Twin Peaks, a Scandinavian crime drama, and a Gossip Girl spinoff starring a squad of suspiciously adult-looking high school students, the teaser for Riverdale looks like it will play well with the Teen Wolf audience. Longtime Archie fans may not be so excited about its interpretation of the source material, though.

It’s too early to know for sure, but right now K.J. Apa’s orange ‘Archie’ hair is one of the first standout performances of the show.
