Finally, a Pokémon fighting game is being made in which you can go head-to-head with your favorite Pocket Monsters.

The game is called Pokkén Tournament and is a co-development with Bandai/Namco. It let’s players fight 1-on-1, Tekken style. Nintendo released the trailer on its official Japanese YouTube channel as well as its Western YouTube channel.

It seems that Nintendo is gauging interest among western audiences for a new 1-on-1 Pokémon fighting game that’s scheduled to hit Japanese arcades sometime next year.

Just as Nintendo has (probably) hoped for, the comments section has people flipping out. From those cursing Nintendo for not bringing the game stateside to speculation as to not if, but when the game will hit Wii U’s worldwide.

Tsunekazu Ishihara, the president of the Pokemon Company, has state the company “wanted to offer an experience that players haven’t had until now,” according to an interview translated by Kotaku.
