It seems like every other week, a new geeky DIY project totally blows our minds. Few are as impressive as this detailed Mario Kart-themed nursery.

Redditor troymcklure, who documents his DIY projects on the YouTube channel geeksmithing, built the nursery’s decorations from scratch. He designed and molded the Mario statue that is seen driving across the nursery ceiling. He’s a huge Nintendo fan, and his children will no doubt be spoiled for regular home decor when they grow up.

The family’s previous project was a Yoshi’s Island nursery with a baby mobile operated by a vintage Nintendo controller.

The Mario on the ceiling was built using a handmade silicone mold and lit with remote-control LEDs. He’s chasing a line of 3D-printed gold coins that hang from the ceiling like mobiles.

On Reddit, troymcklure said that the nursery only cost about $1,500 to build, but that it took the better part of a year and a half to finish. The most expensive part was probably the fake grass.

This build video tells you all you need to know about how much dedication and effort went into creating the incredible room.
