Here’s what an ‘Attack on Titan’ battle would look like IRL

Now you, too, can experience the flight of a terrified Survey Corps member.

YouTube mega-channel Machinima has taken a break from its regular gaming content to bring you an episode of Attack on Titan—and not the way you might expect.

Director Jon Enge and his Mars Rising film company partnered with Machinima to unleash two cosplayers and a GoPro onto the streets of Los Angeles. The goal? Capturing what a real-life member of the popular anime’s Survey Corps might feel if they were battling a giant, naked, man-eating titan that’s rampaging through the city.

We’re pretty sure these guys did every single item on the list of things you should never do with a GoPro. But the effect was dizzying.

Enge’s video starts out with a bunch of cosplayers having a rooftop party when they’re interrupted by an invading titan. What’s a good Survey Corps member to do? Strap on the cardboard sword and the world’s most un-aerodynamic pulley device and start fighting.

The Attack on Titan anime tends to glorify the experience of actually fighting the titans with gorgeous animation and the thrill of flying, a bit like Spiderman.

But as the video shows, it’s more like falling with style while trying not to get eaten.
