The new ‘Game of Thrones’ leaked—and this time HBO’s to blame

This time it appeared to come from HBO itself.

The upcoming episode of Game of Thrones leaked online Tuesday night after it accidentally became available for HBO Spain subscribers, making it the second Game of Thrones episode to leak ahead of schedule this season.

Word that the episode was available on HBO Spain first surfaced on social media last night, with redditors in r/freefolk (a spoiler-friendly Game of Thrones subreddit) reporting the episode was available to view on-demand for an hour. Although a download of the episode didn’t appear to be immediately available, some viewers who had access to the episode streamed it on YouTube, Twitch, and Instagram. (Those streams have since been taken down.) DailyMotion uploads of the episode were also removed.

According to TorrentFreak, the episode only started to become available on torrenting sites like PirateBay.

The Daily Dot has reached out to HBO for comment.

The latest leak is not related to hackers breaching HBO’s system, which was first reported two weeks ago and included leaks of script outlines for “The Spoils of War” and “Eastwatch.” It is also unrelated to the leak of “The Spoils of War” by several men associated with Prime Focus Technologies (which worked with international distributor Star India).

The episode leak appears to share similar characteristics with last season’s early release of “The Door,” which was accidentally made available early for HBO Nordic subscribers. However, this latest leak occurred much further from the scheduled airdate than the one last season, making it even harder for those who want to watch the episode when it airs to avoid spoilers.
