Everybody loves some Overwatch, so fans have been abuzz for months about the potential for an animated series.

The newest playable character addition, Doomfist, was ushered in today with a trailer that made gamers yearn for a show based on the popular characters.

Overwatch takes a different direction than most games, with playable characters introduced and fleshed out through gradually released animated shorts, rather than through gameplay. The potential for a movie or television show was immediately obvious to fans, and several faux-trailers have been made to show how good an Overwatch series could be.

The newest playable character, Doomfist, can deal ranged damage with his hand cannon, or get up close and personal with his rocket punch, which will launch enemies into the air. His ultimate ability—meteor strike—propels him into the air and brings him crashing back to Earth to deal incredible damage.

The character’s backstory has been hinted at through fictional news reports as well as in passing in the game’s lore. Players have been abuzz about the character since a new patch, referred to internally as the “Doomfist/summer games” update, was released.

Now fans can continue clamoring about the potential for an action-packed show to pay tribute to the popular game.
