How do you tweet while wearing handcuffs? Country singer Jake Owen somehow pulled off this feat on May 5, after being detained by local authorities in Florida.

On Saturday afternoon, Owen tweeted a photo of himself and a friend wearing sombreros and chugging beers. The picture of the “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” singer was accompanied by a simple caption: “It’s on.”

Indeed. Several hours (and perhaps many beers) later, the singer tweeted a photo of himself in handcuffs while standing next to a deputy’s cruiser. He was cuffed after apparently “dancing outside the window” of a restaurant.

The photo was later deleted, though we’re assuming that a friend of Owen’s took it. (Snapping a candid self-portrait while in handcuffs isn’t the easiest thing to do.)

Owen, who was arrested in his hometown of Vero Beach, Florida, then apparently ranted about his detainment:

“I was wearing an old man mask and the sheriff decided to rip me out of Steak And Shake and embarrass me in front of my family. You give a guy a gun and a badge and he thinks he’s John Wayne. I’m calling it a night. My mom cried. My Dad was embarrassed.”

Those tweets were also deleted. Owen apologized Sunday for posting the rant: “Y’all I apologize. The IRC Sheriff was doing their job. I love hometown. I had too good of a time on Cinco de Mayo.” He later added, “I embarrassed myself and my family and most importantly the great people of my hometown.”

Owen wasn’t charged for his indiscretion, and he was not charged over the incident, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office told Bay News 9. He was merely detained.

The arrest came on an eventful weekend for Owen, as he tied the knot with girlfriend Lacey Buchanan. Owen later tweeted a photo of the beach ceremony.

Other than his detainment, it seems Owen’s exuberant Cinco de Mayo celebrations were par for the course. Early Saturday, he wrote, “Whats the big deal about Cinco De Mayo. I’ve been drinking my ass off Everydayo of Mayo.”
