Facebook finally adds comment editing feature

The days of deleting entire comments because of a typo are over. Unfortunately, status updates still can't be changed.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one.

Your friend posted something on Facebook and you have a great response to it. You type your comment, hit enter and go back to whatever you were doing. A couple hours later you notice it staring you in the face: you made a typo. And you missed the approximately 12-second window to edit your comment. At this point you can either leave your comment—which may lead to people correcting your grammar—or you can delete it.

Not anymore!

You’re now able to edit a Facebook comment whenever you want, according to TechCrunch, thanks to a new feature similar to the one already available on Google+. The feature has already started rolling out to some users, and will be accessible to everyone in the next few days.

Since you’re no longer restricted to a short timespan to edit your comments, you can edit that typo jumping out at you from last year, or anything from misspelling a name, to posting an incorrect link, to something as minor as “teh.” All you need to do is click on the “X” button in that comment and select “Edit.” Correct your mistake, and voila!

An “Edited” link will now appear on your comment, which your friends can click to see your edit history.

This new feature does not apply to Facebook statuses, so if you make a mistake you’re left with the same “leave, edit in the comments or delete” debate.
