Allen Iverson scores big on Twitter

NBA fans, in a celebratory mood, are now recalling their favorite moments. And one player is standing out from the others.

NBA fans are celebrating Christmas early this year.

Since the announcement on Saturday that a tentative deal had been reached to start the 2011-12 season on Dec. 25, Twitter users have been waxing nostalgic on their #FavoriteNBAMoments. The hashtag has been trending for more than 24 hours, garnering 33,000 mentions, according to the social media search engine Topsy.

While there have been countless memories shared, there’s one recurring theme: Allen Iverson. The former Philadelphia 76ers star and MVP has been trending for the first time since his retirement in 2009. He’s mentioned in nearly 10 percent of Twitter’s Favorite NBA Moments—and with good reason.

Iverson’s highlight reel includes a double crossover on Michael Jordan his rookie year, his infamous “practice” press conference, and countless more.
