Jeers and booing are customary at sporting events to help psyche out the visiting team. But now a sensational meme is being used to distract the competition.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers have reportedly been enlisting the help of “Dramatic Chipmunk” to win their football matches. Although the meme technically depicts a chipmunk, not a gopher, the furry critters look similar enough that the casting is excusable.

If you need a refresher on the furry friend that’s been an Internet celeb for almost a decade at this point, here it is.

According to Bleacher Report, the tactic seems to be paying off. TCU kicker Jaden Oberkrom was 1-2 on FG attempts at the game.

There we have it, guys, memes are finally being broadcasted on jumbo stadium screens. Can a sports team called the Rare Pepes be far behind?
