Selfie sticks don’t just help you find your best light, they save lives

A family swimming in Nantucket, Massachusetts, nearly got swept to sea by the current, all while their 16-year-old daughter was filming the ordeal on her GoPro, attached to a selfie stick.

“Typical millennial,” you may think: But if it weren’t for her, the family could have been shark food. Her father was able to grab the selfie stick and pull her closer to shore, where good Samaritans on the beach were able to grab hold of all of them.

If it weren’t for this trailblazing teen we may never have discovered the full potential of the selfie stick. We see the future headlines now:

  • Woman uses selfie stick to beat away attacker
  • Man falls into subway tracks, pulled to safety by selfie stick
  • Selfie stick used to rescue endangered animals from wildfire
