Can we call her Marshmallow Fluffcakes?

You probably know better than to trust the Internet with a medical diagnosis and legal advice, but what about the naming of your child?

A man and his wife have decided to let fellow redditors help name their daughter, who is expected to enter the world on April 2. Most people would consider this ill-advised, lest the child end up being christened “Lumpy Space Princess McGee.”

The baby’s mother seemed to have the same concerns, according to Stephen, the father and creator of the naming project. So, the couple built in a safety net in case things go awry, which is often the case with Reddit.

“Unfortunately Internet I know better that to trust you,” he writes on a website dedicated to the name selection. “We will ultimately be making the final decision, alas my daughter shall not be named WackyTaco692. Sorry guys the wife wouldn’t go for a free for all.”

According to a casual IAmA he posted about the project, he’s had to clear some inappropriate name suggestions such as STDs and sexual positions, but oddballs like Megatron, Not Zelda, Cthulhu, and Pancake are still on the list.

Despite the wholly warranted concerns, so far the results of the poll are remarkable in their sanity. As of publication time, the child’s name is Luna Mae, which has a nice ring to it. Amelia Renee is running in second place.

It looks like this might work out after all. That is unless darkhorse Xnorlaz makes a break from behind.
