Clueless star Stacey Dash has a few words for her haters: That was way harsh!

Dash appeared CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight Tuesday night explaining why she tweeted her unexpected endorsement for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney—and discussing the backlash she received.

So, why is Dash supporting Romney over incumbent Barack Obama, who she voted for in 2008?

“I would say because of the state of the country,” explained Dash “I want the next four years to be different.”

She added that she “believes” Romney, and calls him “authentic and genuine in what [the Romneys] said,” while slyly slipping in that she is a loyal Meet the Press watcher.

On Sunday, Dash tweeted a picture of herself wearing a red bathing suit, standing in front of an American flag draped background with “#voteromney,” among other hashtags. That picture received 7,000 retweets and plenty of criticism, which left Dash sad, she said.

“I don’t really understand the fury,” said Dash about the scathing responses from some Twitter users. “I am shocked, saddened, not angry.”

Morgan read a tweet that a user sent calling her an “unemployed black woman endorsing Mitt Romney. You’re voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot.”  Dash responded that she doesn’t “feel offended” but stands by her Romney endorsement.

“I choose him not because the color of his skin, but the content of his character,” said Dash.
