The feud between Sarah Palin and PETA got even stupider

An argument so dumb, it should be considered inhumane.

Sarah Palin and PETA are fighting on Facebook over whether it’s bad to stand on a dog.

It’s an online argument so aggressively stupid that no living being should be forced to suffer through it, so we’ll give you a TL;DR-style recap.

The argument stems from the bizarre incident on Jan. 1, when the resigned Alaska governor posted a Facebook photo of her son Trig standing on a family dog.

Naturally, that prompted concerns from animal rights supporters, including People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Palin doubled down on her decision Saturday, posting a long, rambling screed addressed to PETA, calling the organization “screamers blogging hate from your comfy leather office chairs, wrapped in your fashionable leather belts above your kickin’ new leather pumps.” (PETA, for its part, insists it is an entirely vegan organization, and that doesn’t actually use leather.)

She also pulled the Obama-admitted-to-eating-dog-as-a-child-in-Indonesia card, asking, “Did you go as crazy when your heroic Man-of-Your-Lifetime, Barack Obama, revealed he actually enjoyed eating dead dog meat?”

PETA, however, has actually been pretty critical of Obama, having previously criticized him for pardoning turkeys, supporting using mice in research, citing hunting as an example of responsible gun ownership, adopting a puppy instead of a rescue dog from a shelter, and even swatting a fly in an interview, though that one was at least somewhat tongue-in-cheek.

Palin didn’t explain the photo, however, so it appears PETA has the last word. “PETA simply believes that people shouldn’t step on dogs,” it wrote.
