President Barack Obama: He’s just like us! In that he repeats great Onion headlines and can’t say enough nice things about actress Meryl Streep.
Today Streep received the Presidential Medal of Freedom—the highest honor the U.S. government accords civilians—along with Isabel Allende, Stephen Sondheim, and other luminaries. Obama couldn’t resist telling the audience assembled for the ceremony how much he loves Streep as a person, nor quoting an apropos bit of satire that perfectly sums up the country’s admiration for her craft.
Calling it now: Obama to host the 2017 Oscars.
