Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich may be on top of the latest Republican polls but he’s sure not on top of his official website.

For the last few hours, NewGingrich.com has redirected to at least five different sites, thanks to a clever hack. According to a Whois search, NewtGingrich.com is privately registered with an expiration date of June 2, 2010. Gingrich’s official campaign site is Newt.org.

The websites include a Washington Post article titled “Gingrich presidential campaign implodes,”  and “Gingrich’s Campaign Still Looks an Awful Lot Like a Book Tour” from The Atlantic.

Here’s a breakdown from The Blaze as to why they think the hacker chose to redirect Gingrich’s site to the following pages:

  • Tiffany & Co. web site: Referencing Gingrich’s onetime outstanding debt to the jeweler.
  • A Travel Guide to Greece: In reference to the Speaker’s luxurious Adriatic vacation in the midst of the campaign this past summer.
  • Freddie Mac Website:  Poking fun at Gingrich’s much-criticized multi-million dollar tenure at the government sponsored mortgage buyer.

It’s been a long week for Gingrich and his campaign. Tumblr blog Newt’s Nudes features the GOP candidate’s cherubic cheeks and doughy chin superimposed on likewise padded Renaissance bodies.
