Ken Bone—whose public indecisiveness over the 2016 election summed up a large subset of the national mood that brought about President Donald Trump—says his child was suspended from school for a picture of the two of them at a gun range.

Bone tweeted the picture a few days ago, but last night said his son was “suspended from school pending a police investigation.”

In the original tweet, Bone had replied to Kyle Kashuv, a Parkland shooting survivor who has been vocally supportive of the Second Amendment, in contrast to a number of his classmates.

Bone’s comments were in regard to Kashuv saying he’d been questioned by “law enforcement” with Bone saying perhaps the people who spoke to Kashuv would want to speak with him.

Some on Twitter were furious a school would take action off a father’s Twitter photo.

Others speculated there was more to this story, which Bone denied.

On Reddit, Bone has been responding to questions and said he’d spoken with the principal of the school, and that the matter had been referred to the police.

“I really appreciate everyone’s concern. We’re working to get Logan back into school as soon as possible. His principal has referred the matter to the local police and will not allow him back to school until an investigation is completed. We are not currently interested in suing our punishing the school, I just want my son allowed back,” he wrote.

Schools and law enforcement have been on heightened security since the shooting in Parkland, after it was revealed the FBI missed a tip about the confessed shooter. Bone did admit that his picture referenced that school security—although not his son’s school specifically.

In response to Kyle Kashuv tweeting about being questioned by school security I shared the photo with the caption

“Here’s a pic of my son learning to shoot safely under my supervision. Maybe those security guys should talk to him too.”

Not a threat, and not even written by my son. He is being punished for my actions which are themselves not worthy of punishment.

Bone did not respond to a request for comment.
