One of the most influential figures of the 2016 election has decided to break their silence and formally endorse former Vice President Joe Biden.
Unfortunately, this isn’t former President Barack Obama stumping for his old pal.
It’s James Comey.
Yes, the former FBI Director, who may have done more to swing the election to President Donald Trump than we’ll ever know with his last-minute investigation announcement, is saying he’s voting for Biden.
“Voted in first Dem primary to support party dedicated to restoring values in WH. I agree with @amyklobuchar: We need candidate who cares about all Americans and will restore decency, dignity to the office. There is a reason Trump fears @joebiden and roots for Bernie. #Biden2020,” Comey tweeted.
The only problem? Given his new brand of quasi-Marianne Williamson affirmational tweets and a never-forgotten role in 2016, Biden’s rapid response director asked him to “return it.”
“Yes, customer service? I just received a package that I very much did not order. How can I return it, free of charge?” Andrew Bates wrote.
Although, once the tweet started to go viral, he walked it back.
