Conservatives are dredging the Twitter feed of Randy Bryce, the Democratic hopeful running for Wisconsin’s 1st congressional district, in a last-minute attempt to derail his campaign.
Bryce, an ironworker and army veteran, is chasing the seat being vacated by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) and is running on a progressive platform that includes Medicare-for-All. Bryce drew national attention for a viral campaign ad in which his mother discussed her multiple sclerosis. Since then he’s been a target for Republicans.
Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra, however, spent Monday compiling and publishing a thread of “very disturbing” tweets—most of which are from five years ago and are the kind of shoot-from-the-hip sarcastic commentary found everywhere online.
The ironworker, who goes by @IronStache on Twitter, is clearly not a fan of Republican Gov. Scott Walker.

Bryce also had misogynistic words for Ann Coulter.

The tweet is clearly misogynistic and inappropriate, and the Daily Dot reached out to Bryce’s camp about its contents.
However, the next one Saavedra flagged was about Todd Akin, famous for losing his 2012 Wisconsin Senate race after comments made on abortion and pregnancies resulting from rape.

The ironworker also took a shot in 2013 at former Rep. Michele Bachmann’s husband Marcus, who ran gay reversal therapy at his Christian counseling practice.

Bad tweets have been the currency of the 2018 election. But Bryce’s banter doesn’t rise to the level of say, a prominent conservative retweeting neo-Nazis, no matter how appalled some may act online about it.
